LEAP NEWS - LEAP at the Stockwell festival

Lambeth Early Action Partnership were at the Stockwell Festival on Saturday (1 July 2017), meeting families and the local community, promoting LEAP and our programmes and running fun activities for children and parents.

There was a wide-range of fun and games taking place in the LEAP tents, with numerous events taking place throughout the day. We were promoting our key areas of social and emotional development, communication and language and diet and nutrition with interactive family fun such as storytelling, drumming workshops, face-painting and a natures’ corner. We also had a breastfeeding friendly zone, a stall promoting our Parent Champions voluntary work and promotions of our new LEAP into Healthy Living programme featuring things like fruit kebabs, zumbini and oral health best practice.

The drumming workshop, fruit give always and LEAP balloons were particularly popular with the children, who really got in to the spirit of things. It was great to see and talk to parents as well about overcrowding housing solutions, service design opportunities and healthy eating tips.

LEAP Director Laura McFarlane said “It was a fantastic day, really nice to be at such a positive community event promoting the work of LEAP and our array of programmes.

“We met so many great LEAP families and hope to see more of them and have their involvement in LEAP projects in the future.”
