When it comes to early years services for families, dads can often feel overlooked.
On a recent community engagement report of our four Lambeth wards (Stockwell, Coldharbour, Vassall, Tulse Hill) we found that a lot of dad’s wanted changes on how they are included in programmes and services.
- ‘It’s tough to network if you’re a dad, there are loads of specific things for mums, dads suffering in silence.’
- ‘(I would like to see) more groups for dads.’
- ‘Some mums think its amazing children hanging out with their dads, others can’t get their heads round it.’
- ‘To know more about what’s going on in the area, feels quite isolated as a dad.’
Others feel unrepresented, unwelcome and uninformed as well as worried, confused and overwhelmed. At LEAP we recognise the important role fathers play in the early development of their child.
We want to hear from any fathers in our four wards who want to get involved in our focus groups, network with other dads in the area and help promote LEAP and its programmes. We also want to know how we can help you as a father, keep you up to date with any news and policy changes aimed at local dads and involved with community activities.
